Get Out and Live!
Paintball Battle and BBQ in Halifax Recap

 The Scenario

The best position to eliminate your opponent, is from a small boarded up structure all the way across the field. You decide to make a run for it on the count of 3.

…1… 2… 3…

You run! FAST! Firing blindly towards the area you heard gunshots from moments early, foolishly hoping to scare your unknown enemy into hiding and prevent him from pelting you into an oil-based work of art. But the random shooting doesn’t have the desired effect. Instead, you’ve drawn attention to yourself and are now desperately dodging dozens of paintball bullets in slow motion as if you were Neo straight out of the Matrix. The only problem is… these paintballs don’t travel in slow motion so finding effective cover is your only option… and finding it quick is key, so you focus on continuing your mad dash.

Now, so driven by an instinct to survive, the pellets of paint exploding all around you go unnoticed. Traveling at Mach 5, in an all out sprint, you rapidly approach your strategic cover zone, so you dive, roll and slide around a wall of timber and debris, finally shielding yourself from the barrage. Shuffling yourself around to a prone position to better spot your assailant and immediately your eyes find him at the top of the hill. He has the high ground so his shots can be fired further and his vantage point provides better sight, giving him the tactical upper hand…But you have an extended sniper barrel on your gun, giving you the superior accuracy.

You hear silence.
His gun has stopped firing.
Now is you chance.
You lean out around the corner, take aim… and fire!

Welcome to the world of Paintball!

A world that a group of dreamrs recently experienced together at Never Blink Twice Paintball in Elderbank,Nova Scotia. We distributed hundreds and hundreds of paintballs to each of our guests and then unleashed them into the forest for the afternoon, and before the day was done, we had shared everything from hamburgers to head shots. It may have been a perfect, sunny and gorgeous Nova Scotia afternoon, but our group was definitely responsible for some hazardous weather conditions as we generated hailstorms of exploding pellets aimed with the intent of eliminating our friends and redecorating the woodland war zone in the process. All of this was done in the pursuit of some adrenaline and intensity fueled fun.Mission Accomplished! Despite the battle scars, our crew had nothing but smiles on their faces and epic stories to tell after each of the 5 rounds.

“Team Deathmatches” with randomly assigned teammates had couples squaring off against their significant others and best friends turning into instant rivals, while “capture the flag” had every player terrified to set foot into center field to attain the winning game piece, as doing so would also likely also attain your shirt a few paint stains. A game mode called “Take the hill” gave players a chance to find out just how much of an advantage the high ground can provide those who hold it. And our one final match was used purely to spend every last paintball in every players ammo reserve. This round provided 15 minutes of absolute marker mayhem.

To cap off the day, we finished strong with a sweet summer BBQ that left nobody hungry and allowed for some immediate reminiscing of our many micro battles that we had fought with each other throughout the day. Check out the photos down below for a look at the amazing field NBT has set up and the players who put it to the test on Sunday.
